FAWM Song Number Ten

22 Feb

Well, actually this is technically number nine, because number nine isn’t yet finished because I’m collaborating with someone from Ontario and I’m too scared to write anything for our song until he does, but that’s beside the point.

I wrote this song based on Lamentations and entitled it, fittingly, “Lamentations of a Broken People.”  I’m still attempting to perfect the chords and melody, but I’ve at least got a basic idea of how it’ll sound.

Look what’s become of us
Orphaned and fatherless
Dying without a cure
Drowning in hopelessness
Our joy has turned to pain
The music of our hearts has ceased to be
The crown has fallen from our head and we grow faint

See our disgrace, behold our shame
We have nobody to blame but ourselves
We’ve brought this on ourselves.

Where is our hope?
Where is our peace?
Day and night we mourn for You
We long to see Your face
Where is our joy?
Where is our strength?
Where is the one who’s come to save us from ourselves?
Have You forsaken us?

We’ve been corrupted
We’ve been defiled
We’ve brought destruction on ourselves
We labor in vain, for what can we gain
When each step takes us farther away?

Where is our hope?
Where is our peace?
Day and night we mourn for You
We long to see Your face
Where is our joy?
Where is our strength?
Where is the one who’s come to save us from ourselves?

You are our hope
You are our peace
Day and night we mourn for You
We long to see Your face
You are our joy
You are our strength
You are the one who’s come to save us from ourselves.
You save us from ourselves
