FAWM Song Number Five

15 Feb

I’m a little behind on FAWM but I got tqo songs posted today.  Nine more songs till I reach my goal!

I wrote this because I’ve been thinking lately about how self absorbed people can be (myself included) and how we can’t look past ourselves long enough to help someone who needs it.  So, as I am learning to do with everything that’s heavy on my mind, I wrote a song about it.

On the side of the road sits a crippled old man
His life on his back and a cup in his hand
He meets your gaze with hope in his face
And you just walk away

If you could see yourself
If you could hear yourself
If you could take a single moment to change the way you value every day
If you could lend a hand
Throw away your pride
Look beyond the superficial selfishness inside
You could save a life

You say that you have your own problems to solve
You say you would share but you don’t have enough
So you turn your back on all of the pain
And continue to walk away

If you could see yourself
If you could hear yourself
If you could take a single moment to change the way you value every day
If you could lend a hand
Throw away your pride
Look beyond the superficial selfishness inside
You could save a life

Sometimes you need to hit the ground to help another up
Sometimes you need to take a fall before you take a stand
Sometimes you need a quiet heart before you can make your voice heard

Sometimes you need to hit the ground to help another up
Sometimes you need to take a fall before you take a stand
Sometimes you need a quiet heart before you can make your voice heard

If you could see yourself
If you could hear yourself
If you could take a single moment to change the way you value every day
If you could lend a hand
Throw away your pride
Look beyond the superficial selfishness inside
If you could see yourself
If you could hear yourself
If you could take a single moment to change the way you value every day
If you could lend a hand
Throw away your pride
Look beyond the superficial selfishness inside
You could save a life
You could save a life

Shannon, I am in tears over this one. So powerful. And I remain grateful for God at work in you and through you. Oh my, He has such plans for you, young one. Such plans! Keep following Him, keep responding to His call, stay tender. Oh, how I love you!!
